[U-21] ADAM MAJEWSKI: WE HAVE ACHIEVED OUR GOAL THROUGH PATIENCE AND CONSISTENCY

Poland's national under-21 team beat Israel and is the group leader with a full set of points after four matches of the European Qualifiers. "We expected a tough match and that's exactly what it was. We knew that time would work in our favour and the opponent would run out of steam. I am happy with the win, although we could have scored the first goal earlier," said Adam Majewski, coach of the Polish team.

The Poles led 2:0 after goals by Miłosz Matysik and Szymon Włodarczyk before their opponents scored a catch-up goal in the extra time. Michał Rakoczy, meanwhile, failed to take advantage of a penalty kick. "We came out in the first half with a high-pressing move but failed to score. Apart from the one goal, the Israeli team did not threaten us. It's a shame about the wasted penalty kick, but there was no panic at the break because we had the match under control", said coach Majewski. "To reach this goal, one had to be patient and consistent. And that's exactly the way my players were. We could have scored two or three more goals", he added.

Currently, the Poles are ahead of an away match against Germany. "I have a very balanced team, and we have been joined by starting lineup players: Kuba Kamiński and Kacper Kozłowski. It was also nice to see the reserves contribute after joining", coach Majewski stressed. "And Germany? I always hear that any match against them is important, but so is the win against Israel because we are fighting to qualify for EURO. We are focused on ourselves; I have my concept of the game, we will stick to it and we are going for the win", he assured.

The first half saw Israel put up a strong defence and that was their main objective. This made it difficult for us to create goal opportunities. Fortunately, we scored just after the break. I'm happy with the goal, so I won't complain, even though there was a chance for one more", said Szymon Włodarczyk, the national team striker. "And the penalty kick? That was the third one we wasted, and we need to work on that", he admitted.
