Wojciech Szczęsny: For the first time in my life, I'm happy to lose!

He's done it again! Wojciech Szczęsny saved a penalty kick in the second World Cup match in a row. In the third game of the group phase, he stopped a strike from the 11th metre of Leo Messi himself. "Now I can say that I knew where he'll strike, but at the moment of the shot, I wasn't so sure. Messi takes some penalties looking towards the goalkeeper, some he hits hard. He didn't stop, so I sensed it would be my left side and that's where I dove. I owed something to the team," said the hero of the Polish national team after the match that qualified the White-and-Reds to the next round.

Thanks to the phenomenal performance of Wojciech Szczęsny, Poland lost only 0–2 to Argentina. The loss could have been greater, but our goalkeeper showed his skills several times. He performed the most important intervention in the first half. "I'm pleased that this saved penalty got us somewhere in the end. It gives me great satisfaction. Was there a penalty? I told the referee that yes, there was contact, but I touched my rival's head with my hand. The referee decided otherwise – at least I got to show what I got. It was tough because Argentina are on a different level. For the first time in my life, I'm happy to lose," added Szczęsny.
