Poland makes an official bid to host the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029
The final tournament of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 could be another international sporting event organised in our country! Poland has already gained extensive experience in hosting top-level football events, including the UEFA Euro 2012, the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2025 UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship. Next year, Poland will also host the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Polish Football Association, represented by its General Secretary Łukasz Wachowski, has submitted to UEFA the complete tender documentation for Poland to be awarded the right to host the UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 final tournament. Sixteen teams will take part in the competition, playing a total of 31 matches: 24 group stage matches, four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and the final. England are the current European champions.According to UEFA requirements, the host of the championship must have a stadium with a capacity of at least 50,000 seats, three stadiums with at least 30,000 seats, and four stadiums that can accommodate more than 20,000 fans. The Polish Football Association has selected eight football stadiums that meet these criteria, located in seven cities: Białystok, Gdańsk, Kraków, Szczecin, Warsaw (PGE Narodowy and Legia stadium), Wrocław and Zabrze. All local governments actively participated in preparing the bid and declared their readiness to cooperate in organising the tournament. The Polish Football Association’s Department of Event Organisation, Safety and Infrastructure was responsible for the consultation and preparation and for submitting the documentation. The team held talks with cities, stadium operators, owners of training facilities, hotels and airport managers. It also worked with the Ministry of Sport to develop government guarantees for the bid.The aspirations of the Polish Football Association are part of a long-term strategy to develop and promote women’s football in Poland. Poland had already bid to host UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, but Switzerland was selected as the host country. The UEFA Executive Committee will decide on the host of UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 on 3 December 2025.
