During the meeting held last Thursday, the Management Board of PZPN decided that Łukasz Wachowski would serve as Secretary General of Polish Football Association until the end of 2021. He will replace Maciej Sawicki who is leaving the association.

Łukasz Wachowski was born on 2 November 1982 in Olsztyn. He is a lawyer and a graduate of University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. He has worked for the Polish Football Association since 2009, starting in the Legal Department. On 12 December 2012, he became the Director of the Department of National Competitions of the Polish Football Association (now the Department of Professional Football).

Before the 2017–2018 season, he was also responsible for the introduction of the VAR system in Poland, which was implemented successfully. PZPN was one of the first associations in the world to implement the VAR system, while Polish referees led the 2018 World Cup matches and now are regularly in charge of Champions League and Europa League matches.

From May 2015 to August 2017, Wachowski was a Member of the Players' Status, Transfer and Agents and Match Agents Committee at UEFA. He has also been a UEFA match delegate since May 2015 and a member of the UEFA Club Licensing Committee since September 2017.
