Adam Nawałka says goodbye to the Polish national team

The match against Japan at the World Cup in Russia was the last match for Adam Nawałka at the position of the head coach of the Polish national team. At the end of July, his contract will come to an end. "I can proudly say goodbye to the national team, I was able to lead the team from the bottom to the top of the ranking. It is not only my success but the success of the entire staff. I am very sorry that I'm leaving, but I am looking into the future of Polish football and into my future as a coach with optimism", said Adam Nawałka.

Adam Nawałka was selected for the position of head coach of the Polish national team on 26 October 2013 and he officially took over the helm in the national team several days later. On 15 November during the friendly match against Slovakia in Wrocław, he sat on the head coach bench for the first time. That match ended in defeat, but then the White-and-Reds enjoyed the victories much more often.

The most memorable duels with the participation of Adam Nawałka as the head coach of our national team were those with Germany (2-0, a historic victory over the rival), Ireland (2-1, promotion to the final tournament of the European Championship) and all matches played during UEFA Euro 2016. Adam Nawałka also led our national team to the final tournament of the World Cup after 12 years of absence at an event of this rank. Under his leadership the Polish national team  won 26 matches, 15 matches ended in a draw, and lost 9 matches.
