We are writing a new history of the national team
Fans of the national team of Poland have waited a long time for this moment! The Nike company has unveiled the new kits in which the players of the national team will compete for success at the European Championship in France.
On 17 March 2016 the new home kit of the Polish national football team was been presented. Its main element is a white short-sleeved shirt with grey graphic elements that gradually change their shade, symbolizing the extending wings of an eagle. The new kit also has a traditionally placed national emblem – a White Eagle with a crown on a red background.
– We knew how important the symbol of eagle is for Poles, so we decided to show it twice: symbolically - on the front of the shirt, as well as on the left breast, inside an emblem – says Scott Munson, Vice-President of Nike Football Apparel. – This is an exciting time for Polish football. The Polish national team is young and talented and has great potential. We are pleased that in cooperation with the Polish federation we were able to reflect the character of the team, by creating this project – adds Munson.
– We are a team of young players. A few years ago each of us had a dream to play in the red and white colours with an eagle on our chests – says Robert Lewandowski, captain of the Polish national team. – During this year's tournament we will make this dream come true; not only ours, but also of millions of Polish fans. The shirt of the national team has always been an important element for all Polish fans. We want it to become the symbol of a new era in Polish football. We respect the past of our national team, but we are also aware of the fact that we are writing a new story -– he adds.
The new shirt has white sleeves, a V-type collar and an embroidered "Poland" on the back. On the sides there are additional elements from a double, red-and-white material that expand when the player is in motion, providing better ventilation. The shorts for the home kits have a classic red colour, complete with sewn-in white stripes, which are the continuation of a line on the T-shirt. The kit is completed by new, red leggings with white graphics in the region of the calf.
A contrasting combination of colours, in which shorts and leggings have a different colour to the shirt, focuses attention on the fastest part of the body - the legs. This allows us to get an additional impression of speed during movement.
In both sets the priority was to emphasize national colours and symbols. They also come with the latest technological solutions of Nike. The innovative structure of the material and ecological fabrics are perhaps the most important ones. Additionally, the shirt is about 5 percent lighter and transports moisture 25 percent faster than the previous one.
The Polish away kit consists of a red shirt, shorts and leggings. Both sets will be available for purchase at Nike.com and at the store Łączy Nas Piłka from 24 March.
