PZPN GIVES UP ON EURO 2020

During a press conference that took place after today's meeting of PZPN's Management Board, the President Zbigniew Boniek informed that our federation will not be applying to host UEFA European Championship 2020.

"We have decided to do that for several reasons. Firstly, our application required many guarantees and a lot of hard work and, still, our chances of receiving it - even if due to our recent organisation of EURO 2012 - were slim. That is why we have informed the relevant government bodies about our decision, so that we wouldn't absorb them and generate another ton of documents," explains the President of Polish Football Association.

Taking the opportunity, in order to lift spirits of football lovers in our country, Zbigniew Boniek assured that within six months he will be able to disclose several facts about other event that the Polish Football Association is getting ready to organize. "Right now, it is too early to give details, but I can assure you that it would be great promotion both for our football and our country," added the President of PZPN.

During the press conference, Zbigniew Boniek brought up the topic of the Polish Cup final which will take place at the National Stadium in Warsaw on 2nd May. The President of PZPN assured evryone that organisation of this event will equal the one of the Champions League final. At the end, Zbigniew Boniek also added that PZPN will do everything to increase importance of the Polish Cup final in the years to come.
